As I was taking a stroll through the campus hallways recently I came upon one of the students in my Behavior Program outside of his class with his face pressed to the glass of the classroom window trying to get the teacher’s attention and distracting no less than three students in the process.
When I asked him what he was doing out there, he told me his teacher asked him to go into the hall until he was “ready to work”. He had apparently been unready upon first arriving to class as evidenced by his refusal to complete the one paragraph written assignment for the day.
As I went into the classroom to ask the teacher what was up, I wondered to myself how the student was going to learn to be “ready to work” standing in the hallway by himself. Was he going to pull some new-found level of…
