March 2nd is the National Education Association’s Read Across America Day! Celebrated annually on the birthday of beloved children’s book author, Dr. Seuss, Read Across America Day is a reading motivation and awareness program that emphasizes the importance of reading for children nationwide. Reading skill is a central factor in student achievement, and sparking a love for reading in students when they are young can encourage them to be life-long readers. Every year, NEA members, sponsors and partners along with schools, communities, families, caregivers, and librarians all come together to celebrate reading and nourish students’ interest in it by holding book-related events and engaging in fun reading activities.
