Ten Dos & Don’ts of Teaching Vocabulary

I came across an article a while back about teaching vocabulary. It’s always a challenge to teach, because usually most methods rely on rote memorization and drilling. Both of those methods are ineffective (for the most part). Children learn words better through reading in context, as well as paring the word with the object it describes.

This article, from TeachThought, has some excellent tips for teaching vocab! I’d love to share the pic with you!

Now these strategies may not be effective for everyone, rarely anything is 100% effective 100% of the time, BUT at least you can make the most of these strategies and see improvements in your students’ retention and applying skills.
