As someone who trained to be a teacher the last five years, teaching abroad is a whole new beast. I came here with promises of teaching high school students English as a foreign language (EFL), but later found out that I would be teaching in an elementary school. While I was a little disappointed about this since I’m certified for Secondary Education, I shrugged it off. I get to be in a beautiful country and have many opportunities to travel, in addition to working with kids. I’d be a complete JAP to complain (JAP = Jewish American Princess for those of you who don’t know). I am thankful for this time to experiment with teaching different ages. I can say for sure that high school is my preferred age. But that doesn’t mean I am not enjoying what I’m doing.
